Manually Add Address for Events
Introduction
The Event Calendar in theCMS provides more flexibility for events that take place at venues other than the website's primary business location. When creating an event, users can now specify a venue name along with structured address details such as street, country, state, city, ZIP code, latitude, and longitude. This helps teams represent the actual event location more accurately and gives visitors clearer information about where an event is taking place.
Step 1: Access the Event Calendar
Log in to the platform and open the required website.
From the left navigation menu, select Event Calendar.
Select Published Events.
The page displays the events currently published for the website.
Review the Location column to see where existing events are taking place.
Select Add Event in the upper-right corner to create a new event.

You can also use the Published and Drafts tabs to switch between events based on their current status.
Step 2: Enter the Basic Event Information
The Create an Event window opens.
Enter the primary information for the event:
Enter the Name of the event.
Open Category and select one or more appropriate event categories.
Enter the Description.

The Description editor provides formatting controls that can be used to structure the event information and add elements such as links, images, or other supported content.
You can also add an event image using the Image section where required.
Step 3: Configure Recurring Events if Required
If the event repeats:
Select Recurring Event.
Configure the recurrence using the options that become available.
Leave the option unselected for a one-time event.
For a standard one-time event, continue directly to the Start and End fields.
Step 4: Set the Event Start and End
Select the Start field.
Choose the required date from the calendar.
Set the start time.
Select Apply.
Repeat the process in the End field.
Confirm that the end date and time occur after the start date and time.
Accurate dates and times help visitors understand exactly when the event is taking place.
Step 5: Review the Event Location
Scroll to the Location section.
An existing business or website location may already appear in the field. Its corresponding address can also be displayed beneath it.
If the event takes place at that location, review the information and continue.
If the event takes place somewhere else:
Select the X beside the existing Location to remove it.
The existing address information is cleared.
You can now enter the actual venue where the event will take place.

This makes it possible to publish events hosted at external venues without treating the website's primary location as the event venue.
Step 6: Enter the Venue Name
In the Location field:
Enter the name of the event venue.
Use a recognizable venue name that visitors can easily identify.
For example, a venue can be entered separately from its physical address.
Once a new location is entered, the structured Address fields become available below it.

Keeping the venue name separate from the street address makes the event location easier to understand and manage.
Step 7: Enter the Street Address
Under Address, enter the venue's street information in the Street field.
Use the physical address where visitors should arrive for the event.
The Street field is required in the workflow shown.
Step 8: Select the Country
Open the Country dropdown.
Use the search field to find the required country.
Select the country where the event takes place.
Selecting the country first determines the location information available in the subsequent address fields.
Step 9: Select the State
After selecting the country:
Open the State dropdown.
Search for the appropriate state.
Select it from the results.

The example workflow selects United States as the country and Massachusetts as the state.
Step 10: Select the City
Open the City dropdown.
Enter the city name in the search field.
Select the correct result.

Using the structured Country, State, and City fields helps keep event locations consistent instead of storing the entire address as a single text value.
Step 11: Enter the ZIP Code
Enter the postal or ZIP code for the event venue in the Zip Code field.
Verify that the ZIP code corresponds with the selected city and state before proceeding.
Step 12: Add Latitude and Longitude
Enter the geographic coordinates for the event venue:
Enter the Latitude.
Enter the Longitude.
Make sure the coordinates correspond with the physical event address.
In the workflow shown, both Latitude and Longitude are required fields.
These coordinates provide a more precise representation of where the event takes place, particularly when the venue is different from the website's primary business location.
Step 13: Review the Complete Event Location
Before saving the event, verify all location information.
Review:
Venue name
Street
Country
State
City
ZIP Code
Latitude
Longitude

Check the information carefully, particularly when entering a custom location. The venue name and structured address should refer to the same physical location.
Step 14: Save the Event as a Draft or Publish It
Once the required information has been entered, choose how you want to save the event.
Create Draft
Select Create Draft if the event still requires review or additional information before it becomes publicly available.
Save & Publish
Select Save & Publish when the event details are complete and ready to be published.
Make sure the event name, dates, description, and location are correct before publishing.
Step 15: Confirm the Published Event
After the event is successfully published, the event details page opens and a confirmation message appears.

The event page displays key information including:
Event name
Publication status
Date and time
Venue
Description
You can also use the available options to:
Preview the event.
Select Edit Details to update its primary information.
Complete additional event details where required.
Review SEO information.
Add an Event Activity Schedule where applicable.
Updating the Location of an Existing Event
If an event location changes after the event has been created:
Open the required event from Event Calendar.
Select Edit Details.
Remove or update the existing Location.
Update the structured address information.
Verify the Street, Country, State, City, ZIP Code, Latitude, and Longitude.
Save and republish the event as required.
Keeping the event venue and address current ensures that visitors receive the correct location information even when an event is held away from the business's primary location.
Why Detailed Event Locations Matter
Events do not always happen at the website owner's primary business location. Conferences, festivals, performances, community activities, and other events may take place at hotels, convention centers, public spaces, or third-party venues.
The enhanced location workflow allows teams to associate each event with its actual venue and structured geographic information. This gives website visitors clearer information about where to go while giving content teams greater flexibility when managing events across different locations.
